The main photographic tool

A little primer about categories of photographic tools.
Today we rely on several categories of cameras in order to be able to take a picture.
The market is already saturated with compact digital cameras the so called point and shoot.
They are called like that because this is their primary function. Point and shoot.
These cameras are only aimed at enthusiast and amateurs consumers who have no knowledge about photography and are also not interested in how the photographic process work.
These little cameras are preset from the factory to be able to take decent pictures in a wide variety of conditions ie. outdoors indoors fluorescent lighting, tungsten lighting and so forth.
They offer very little as far as creativity or more specialised applications and do not permit the use of different lenses.
They are however very good at being conspicuous and are very versatile at gatherings and family ocassions ,at the beach and on trips. But do not expect to be able to produce works of art with these cameras.
Even with the high megapixel count compacts the options are still less than with even an entry digital SLR.
Which brings us to the next step up from the compacts - The entry level SLR

Focus on Photography

After reading several posts on some Romanian photography chat group i think i should start a site of my own or at least try to bring some light about this art to many who seem to be howering in the dark abouit this subject.
It looks like digital photography and digital in general has prevalence over the old form of Silver Emulsion photography.
To those who are old enough and lucky enough to have worked and experiment with "film" i can only say that the old rules about composition, shutter, aperture, light levels, depth of field still apply with the new form of Digital Photography.
I have switched from film to digital after i first got the chance to play with the then "NEW" Canon 10D.
The instant feedback i got on the LCD display was enough to make me put all my trusty Pentax's
(Pentax LX Pentax K2 DMD Pentax 67) on Ebay along with all the lenses and accessories.
So that is how i become a CANON convert. And a digital one at that.

I belong to the EU also

So i am in my old/new country which has just joined the growing European Union.
I am hoping to be able to document some of the new and old ways which affect life in Romania now.
Buit it is a very promising country for business and people here are very excited about the new possibillities.
It looks like everyone wants only the best and competition amongst them is fierce.
I have recently drove from Bucharest all the way to the north of the country in the Maramures region and along the way, at the perifery of most major cities i noticed rows and rows of car dealers and not just any car dealers.
There were mostly luxury car dealers.
You look on the roads and on the streets and it seems that everyone driving is either filthy rich or aspiring to be one someday.
is funny in some way as compared to the open roads from the country side where the horse and buggy still rule.
i am hopint to start posting some of the photographs i took until now.

Happy New Year

New Year, new rezolutions and commitments.
I flew from Seattle WA to Bucharest Romania to celebrate New Year's and my country's integration into the EU.
And with this occasion an exercise in self discipline by starting this blog.
We'll see how it goes.
